lady on couch

I love this!

If you're ready for a zombie apocalypse, then you're ready for any emergency.

Yes, the CDC is posting a plan about how to prepare for a zombie apocalypse. If you look at the actual blog about this, you may notice that the advice is short on shotguns, decapitation drills, and that sort of specific violent procedures. What it actual is, of course, is good general emergency advice.

I've actually thought this would be a good way of getting emergency preparedness out as something to think about. A lot of people who wave off the risk of fire or weather will still nonetheless plan out in great detail what they'd do if zombies or aliens attacked. While the specific premise of the scenario is silly, getting people to think about this stuff is great.

Sunday 8 May - Thor - 1:05pm - Regal Hadley

OK. Here are the logistics:

Movie: Thor
Showtime: 1:05pm, Sunday, 8 May 2011
Theater: Regal Hadley, 1000 Corporate Court, South Plainfield, NJ

We'll probably grab lunch in the general vicinity beforehand. Like, noonish at the 5 Guys across the parking lot or something. Most interested parties should have my cell #, or Roland's or, you know, somebody's. Afterwards, we'll negotiate whether we'll go off somewhere and try to beat the Mother's Day rush, or just head off on our respective ways.

That's as much planning as I've got,folks.

Thinking of doing Thor on Sunday

Turns out Friday is not great for some folks, nor Saturday, so we're looking at a Sunday matinee.

Now, Thor comes in regular, decaf and... I mean regular, 3D and IMAX 3D. I'm not so wild about 3D on non-CGI films, so if I go 3D I want to go whole hog. 'Round here that means the 1:00pm at the AMC Loews New Brunswick 18 (Rte 1). If we go plain, then I think I like the Regal Hadley instead, which has a 1:05 pm showing.

Thoughts? Opinions? Objections?

Psych Test?

This is just disturbing.

My Diagnosis:

Verbally and mentally fluid, you are refreshing and illuminating to those around you. This is occasionally somewhat discounted by the obvious pleasure that you take in exercising your mental acuity. Although generally peaceful you can often take a verbally aggressive tact in relations with the world, which can often be misunderstood by those around you. Innovative in the extreme, you can often think yourself right out of the correct answer to a given problem. Many times you are referred to as your own worst enemy. You tire very quickly of routine and so make poor clerks or administrative help. You also have no respect for authority and little patience for those you regard as inferior, most especially those in charge. Experimentation is your watchword and can occasionally lead to experience for its own sake and shallow decadence. Your thought can sometimes be scattered and disconnected.

OMG - a movie expedition - Tron on Saturday

So, you know, I haven't organized a movie night in ages, because the logistics just got too annoying. grandbuddha mentioned he has a plan to see Tron: Legacy, though, and a plan is better than no plan, so I'm stealing his. [Insert evil laugh here]

So, we're looking at the AMC Hamilton 24 (so far south - I know!) at 10:00pm (so late - I know!) on Saturday (not Friday - I know!). This is the pseudo-IMAX 3-D version (so pricey - I know!) because if you're going to see a movie all about the effect, you should go whole hog.

So, in summary, Tron, Saturday at 10pm, at the Hamilton 24. Attendance is wildly optional.

Why are you asking me all these hard questions?

customer: I need to make a change to my boss's website.

me: What's the address of the website.

customer: Umm... I don't know.

me: [performs some quick research] Is it [URL]?

customer: Oh! Yes...

me: All right then, what did you need to change?

customer: Umm... I don't know.

me: *headdesk*

So, uh, I thought the Invisible Girl was a Marvel property

I'd actually been kind of psyched about the Young Justice cartoon. I liked the comic book and I like most of the announced characters. Having seen the trailer, well, I'll still watch, but I'm a lot less thrilled. The cheesey "today's the day" stuff I can write off as clunky exposition -- I'll hope the dialog improves. But, seriously, this is a six minute trailer meant to represent the whole show, and there are no, and by no I mean zero female characters. I think one or two of the civilian victims in the first scene were women, and the camera panned over Wonder Woman and Hawkwoman for a fraction of a second (they had no lines, of course).

Yes, I know "Artemis" (either the new Speedy or Arrowette with a new name, not the Amazon) and Miss Martian are supposed to turn up eventually, and rumor has it one episode may cover the Secret. But clearly they're not part of the pilot or core team if they're not even hinted at in the trailer.

Really, DC? I get that women aren't your core demographic, but none at all?
