Google Maps just rolled out a new "My Maps" thingy that lets you annotate maps.

In the course of playing with the new toy, I worked up a map of theaters we hit for movie excursions. My place gets a dot thingy instead of a house icon, 'cause it's my map.

It kind of gives you an idea why aiskon and I sometimes complain a bit about so many of these movie nights winding up at the Regal Commerce Center (and why the resident of "Five Corners (of Doom)" complains when its anyplace else.) cptsarcasm does not have a sourcepoint, because he won't tell us where he lives. (Those of you who know the exact addresses of the sourcepoints will notice I moved them a bit, for, like, privacy reasons.)

The next movie I'm sufficiently interested in to trigger movie excursion will be Spiderman, on Friday the 4th of May. There are no screentimes available, yet, of course, so the actual logistics won't be worked out until a few days before. (Not feeling geeky enough? Apparently the City of New York and Columbia Pictures have decided that the week of April 30 through May 6 will be "Spider-Man Week In NYC. That has a map, too.")

I'm pretty sure my last post about going out tonight had links to the appropriate maps for the various locations, but in case it helps, here's a marked up sattelite map of westfield.

I love the Sattelite view thingy on Google Maps.

I linked the map to go to the regular style google map of the area, for reference purposes. 'Cause I can.

I have cake! A fancy chocolate and hazelnut icing cake. Plus my boss bought me a lavendar plant. Now I need to come up with a place to plant a lavendar plant...

The first part of this, I am sure, will freak people out a bit.

1. Go to Google Maps and pop in an address you know well.
2. Click on the sattelite link on the upper right corner and zoom in..

Well, ok, the good old white house has some secutrity masking, but most places are wide open. (Yes, you can zoom in on Area 51).

Now, this kicked in earlier in the week. The moderator of MetaFilter grabbed the sattelite view of his home, and annotated it. This kicked off a meme of memory maps. It's, like, totally, the new thing.
