Losermail, I get losermail

I have a site where I've compiled how various supernatural creatures are handled in fiction. Periodically I get emails with helpful corrections or suggestions of other source material I should catalog.

And then there's the losermail, in which I get asked things like how to go about meeting a "real vampire". Or, this...

Subject: Witch_Myths‏
From: [redacted]
Sent: Tue 1/06/09

witches, vampires, etc. are no myth. they hide cause some are afraid of exposer or afraid to live like the salem witchtrials. There are some who are very talented and who can see the future. Some conjure elements very good. Witches can be good or evil. Good likes to help others with there problem. They are kind and loveing people. There is magic all around us. we just don't notice it.

Ooooh-kay, then!

Loser Mail... I get loser mail...

I've been working on the Vampire Myths page a bit lately. The update's not up yet, but should be soonish.

Incidentally, anyone who's read "Dead After Dark" or "Living Dead In Dallas" lately, (by Charlaine Harris) I may want to pick your brain. I don't have the books with me and am forgetting things.

I think I'll also draft in dracula, finally.

In the meantime, for your amusement, I will give you some of the loser mail I ran across while working the inbox.

And... today's "loser mail" is...

I have some web sites about vampires, shapeshifters, and witches as portrayed in popular fiction. Mostly I get good, serious comments, but every now and then I get what I call loser mail. I used to delete them cold, now I wish I'd kept them for posterity.

Here's today's gem:

From : "Bob Smith" <silverstreak21@xxx.xxx>

Subject : ~*~Plz help me~*~

Date : Tue, 26 Feb 2002 23:36:04 +0000

hi i read some on ur page and would like to know if u know of any reall Shape Shifters and or Vampires or Werewolfs b/c i seek to find one and to become any of the following most likely the Shape Shifter the most and if u do find them could u refer them to me or something so i could possibly meet them and do u have MSN i do and we could chat about stuff plz help me and or reply to me i beg of ur help i dearly need it

Shadow

It was at least a little amusing. And it does stand out as referencing the Shapeshifter page as well as the Vampire page. Plus, he knows how to change the default subject line.

On the other hand, is this some yahoo who really believes in this stuff and thinks that some random person he emails will put him in touch with the undead? Or is it someone who wants to generate a condescending reply.

I never reply to loser mail, because either way you don't want to encourage them. But I do wonder...
