So, naturally, the brusing "matured" overnight. The 3-D effect is gone (well, that was gone by evening), but the spreading didn't happen until I slept. I look pinker 'cause I took the photos in different light.

As ugly as they are, they don't hurt at all, not even the minor ache from yesterday. And, well, I'm wearing long sleeves at work today.

Since this wasn't a full donation, I wonder how long it is before I qualify to try again... I suppose I should at least wait until the marks from this try are gone. (ETA: Apparently you're still supposed to wait the 56 days, so I can try again the second week of May or later.)

Yikes! I'm glad they don't hurt now. BTW, I've found that making sure I am well, or even overly hydrated when I know I'm going to have to have a blood draw is the best way to make sure this doesn't happen. After the time it took 6 sticks over 2 days to get blood out of me, I've always loaded up on liquids well before the time of the stick arrives.

I'd originally planned to go in the afternoon, and they asked me to come in earlier. I'd probably have been better hydrated after lunch (because I keep a pitcher of water at my desk).

much better bruises than I get! Of course all I will do is blood tests, because they have problems even getting THAT much blood. Yesterday was a combo (tests for two doctors) and of course the vein collapsed and they had to go for a second one.

This is a bit unusual for me. Most of the time when I donate, I leave with no bruise at all. I've had this happen because of the funny veins, but never quite this dramatically.

Yay you for being not willing but anxious to try again! You deserve a new Sharing Knife book [in just a few weeks now].

:)
