So, I went to see the dentist yesterday morning thinking I had a loose crown. What I had was a split root, which was infected and had to come out, like, right away. So I got packed off to the surgeon while my dentist fashioned me a temporary bridge. I called my co-worker to say "Oops, sick day" and found out that everyone else in the dept was out, too, save him (1 scheduled vacation, 1 family emergency, 1 unknown). The surgeon dug out the root with some trouble, and then packed the hole with bone graft. Yeah, bone graft. This is actually fairly normal, but still.
Then I headed off to the drugstore to fill my antibiotic and painkiller scrips. I got a good pharmacist. She saw I was biting a piece of gauze and only asked me yes or no questions. Then it was time for ice - 20 minutes on and 20 off, for as long as you can stand to. I actually logged on to the work network and tried to back up my poor lone co-worker, even if it is hard to type while holding an icepack to your face.
I had to go back to get my bridge, which was a bit painful to fit (it'll hurt less when the swelling goes down) and stopped at Trader Joe's for soup without chewy bits in. On account of not being able to chew for a couple days. And home, and collapsed.
